• DSF is a non-profit organization based in Bangalore, India, that works toward making the right to quality education, overall development, and a happy childhood a reality for all children. The underlying belief of DSF is that education is the only sustainable instrument that can create a democratic, socialistic, and egalitarian world. DSF's strategy focuses on three levels of education development: a) holistic development of government schools; b) enhancing school choice of underprivileged youth; and c) encouraging civil society participation in the management of low-income area schools. • DSF's HeadStart initiative addresses the high dropout rate of children at higher primary studies by facilitating a smooth transition from the primary to the secondary stage of education. HeadStart reaches out to the most vulnerable groups such as children rehabilitated from child labor, orphans, children from single-parent families, and so on. HeadStart seeks to enhance the school choice of low-income students through provision of academic scholarships. DSF has also established education and development facilities in poor neighborhoods where students benefit from after-school tutoring, English lessons, life skills training, library and computer facilities, counseling, and mentoring.
  • Sackhumvit Trust has partnered with HeadStart since 2008. We finance the secondary tuition of over 100 students, and the administrative, rental, and operating expenses of DSF's education and development centres in Yeshwantpur and R.T. Nagar. Sackhumvit Trust actively shares learning resources with HeadStart as developed by our Teaching Resource Centre.
