Investment in women and girls is a proven path to reduce poverty

For women living in urban rural areas, independence is a constant question and starting their own business is like a fantasy only to be dreamt about and never realized. But in the case of our WEP women, regular training, motivation and providing a safe environment has transformed their lives and turned them into entrepreneurs in their own right. Young women can earn a livelihood to support their family and discover the power of their own voice and ideas. At the Centre we are helping them build sustainable and scalable business models aimed at holistic development and economic upliftment at the bottom of the income pyramid. The women attributed their success to the teacher Shameera, who taught them sewing skills and provided guidance and encouragement. The Trustees marveled at the display of hand crafted creative bags and clothes and congratulated the women present for their neat finishes and progress
