Rabiya…From borrower to earner

‘Empowerment’ has been a catchword now in the world of the economic development analysis for women. Women suffer from different types of powerlessness in social and economic sphere of life. The lack of power or disempowerment reflects in their less education level, less control over their own income, less bargaining power in selling their own produce and labor, less participation. There appears to be an overrepresentation of women in low paying jobs.

At Sackhumvit centre we strive hard towards designing and executing women empowerment programs. Women are taught various skills like sewing, tailoring related craft, mehendi designs,  paper bag making and the trust has taken a small step towards export possibilities of these items.

Rabiya is one of our success stories who has made full use of the opportunities provided to her.
